I've been spending more time in Detroit lately – this was taken outside of Old St. Mary's near Greektown.  I liked the rough brick behind the smooth bronze statue, and the blanket of snow only added to the isolated feeling of Mary walking alone with her child.

Wonderful shot – and kind of a mental whiplash for me, because I distinctly remember that church and statue from when I lived in, and explored, Detroit in the late '70s.

Thanks +Pat Kight – I hope to go back and get inside the church next time.  It's got a lovely structure.  Crazy how something familiar in an out of place setting (randomly online) can make you catch your breath like that.
