The Peterboro
Just a quick cell-phone review of The Peterboro in Midtown Detroit.
Serving up Chinese-American food with a fancier flair. It’s not your “eat out of a take-out box” Chinese food, but with the beautiful jade green tile and large tiger painting, you’ll want to sit down to eat anyway.

We got a couple of “small plates”.
BURNT EDAMAME
soy, maldon sea salt
These were absolutely delicious.
CRISPY PORK BELLY
five spice, sweet bean sauce
The pork belly wasn’t very good; the skin wasn’t as crispy as I’d expected, and the meat and fat were quite chewy. Like, cheap squid chewy… It’s interesting that this isn’t listed on their menu on the website anymore.
And then some “large plates” to share:
MONGOLIAN HANGER STEAK
charred scallion, roasted garlic, crispy rice noodles
Tasty, but not enough for the price.
ALMOND BONELESS CHICKEN
griffin claw ipa batter, brown gravy, spiced marcona almonds, shredded lettuce
I really enjoyed this. It was unlike any ABC I’ve had anywhere else.
Finally a quick dessert:
EGG CUSTARD TART
Hong Kong style, candied orange
Kinda gelatiny, and not creamy like I expected of a custard. It also didn’t have any real flavor.
All done – I would come back if someone said to meet them here, but not likely otherwise. It had some tasty items, but for my money and time there are other places I prefer.
