    Conventions of Needles and Ink

If you’ve been around here a while, you know I attend a good many conventions over the year. Anime, Sci-Fi, Board Games, Web Development; my interests and job skills span a lot of categories. Recently however I had a new one to add: Tattoo Convention. The Motor City Tattoo Expo is an annual gathering of some of the best tattoo artists around the world. It’s been going since 1996, and what really interested me was that it’s curated by the organizers. Artists are invited, rather than just an open market free-for-all. I’ve wanted a tattoo since I was about 14. My mom is a practical person and her only response…

40th Annual Noel Night – Detroit, MI

Noel Night is a holiday celebration where the cultural center area of Detroit has a free “open house” for the public. Among the participants is the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the Detroit Public Library. It’s a great opportunity for families to not only get out and have a great time but to visit some of the wonderful cultural institutions that they may not have before. We started at the First Congregational Church of Detroit

    Confessions of an Addict

I want to talk openly about a problem I have. One that I think many struggle with, but don’t talk about. Few truly understand, and as soon as you bring it up it has all sorts of immediate misconceptions. See, even now I can see you trying to figure it out: If you go too long without it, you experience symptoms such as nausea, insomnia, depression, anxiety, fatigue. You often use more than you planned, even though you told yourself you wouldn’t. You may want to stop using, but you feel powerless. You spend a lot of time using and thinking about it, figuring out how to get it, and…

    New year – new start!

What kept me away between October and now was a not so little trip to Florida – 2 weeks in WDW! It was a lot of hours working and saving to do it – but it was worth every penny, every minute, and even my husband who was just “okay with the trip” can’t wait to return now.

    Leaving LJ

Well – if the over a year hiatus didn’t spell it out for me nothing will. Sadly this site is no longer accessible at work (and I spend a good 10 hrs a day there) so I can’t update in my free time. I also manage a lot of other sites which keeps me from getting over here as often. To those of you still interested in keeping up/in touch please see me at www.disjointedimages.com/blog where I plan on having a section for my Odd Ramblings. Thank you to everyone who read and responded. I’ll keep this live for a while before shutting down the account.

    Wedding Day!

Waiting for my haircut: Hair in sunlight: Getting cinched in: Some of the pro’s shots: Food! Dad brought a TON of cabbage rolls as promised: I made WAY too many cupcakes (yes, I was baking the night before and piping icing the morning of my own wedding): The “traditional” sharing of the cake (lemon): The groom and best man: Awww: For our “honeymoon” (a lovely weekend away) – we went to our favorite city for our favorite food:

    Planning a DIY Wedding

*-* This post originally appeared as a set of posts on my original LiveJournal account – before I realized that website journaling was a fine outlet as well. I thank Wil Wheaton and Jenny “the Bloggess” Lawson for that. *-* After many interrupted starts, I am finally going forward with the wedding plans. This is going to be the low key family only no vendors/rentals/halls/etc type of deal just so we can say we DID IT! The entire wedding was decided with 6 weeks notice, no savings, a single income, and my own insane self. Next year I’ll do the “everyone and their drunk cousin with the whole hoopla multiple…

    Chemise / Renaissance shirt

After the first place I went to for my shirt failed to understand how to take my order (don’t ask…) I found a lovely shop that does custom shirts, and even better, was able to do so in my short time frame. joyfulbydesign All her communications were prompt and friendly, and she didn’t even flinch at all of my custom size requests. When it arrived, I was very pleased with the quality, fit, and comfort. If anything in her shop looks like it interests you, purchase without worry!
