    NAIAS 2015

Thanks to some good fortune at work – I had the chance to attend NAIAS this year multiple days. One of which being the Industry Preview night! This might not sound like much, but to get in with my camera and not have throngs of general public crowding every shot was AMAZING. I work downtown, so I knocked off work a little early (yay for having a Team Leader who is both into cars and cameras and totally gets the significance of such an opportunity) hopped the People Mover and rode to COBO. In the lobby they had a few race cars and some artwork displays. This splatter-paint Ford logo…

    Detroit Grand Prix 2014

The race was on in Detroit again. The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix returned to the Motor City and ran laps around the island from May 30-June 1, 2014. This year saw races for the Verizon IndyCar Series, the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the Pirelli World Challenge Series and the trucks of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Truck Series. A bit of history: Belle Isle was home to the Detroit Grand Prix from 1992-2001, utilizing a temporary street circuit that was constructed specifically for the CART races. Detroit Grand Prix

The Chevrolet Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix (as it is officially called) was held May 31-June 2, 2013. It featured cars from the IZOD IndyCar Series, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the Pirelli World Challenge Championship Series. The track is 2.3 miles long and is actually temporary. It takes months to set up the full track area including paddock, bleachers, vendor area, and more. Thanks to a random giveaway at work, Chris scored 2 tickets for Saturday along with parking, shuttle, and paddock access.

    Autorama 2013

Since I decided to attend the Auto Show this year, I figured I should give Autorama a shot as well. It’s been running for over 60 years and features a wide range of custom cars – from Hot Rods to tricked out motorcycles to replica movie vehicles like the Batmobile. We parked in our usual spot downtown and stopped by Greektown to grab some cheap burgers and fries from Five Guys. They were pretty packed (lot of folks heading to the show) and while we waited I grabbed a handful of peanuts.

NAIAS 2013 – Detroit Auto Show

It’s been some years since I’ve attended the Auto Show. For various reasons I just wasn’t finding it worthwhile to visit. Since Chris started working in Detroit however, we find ourselves much more interested in visiting the city and taking in the sights. So it was that we headed out to see what NAIAS had to offer for 2013. 2014 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Series
